Performance
The BARRETO 918 tiller has all the performance of our larger
tillers, but it’s designed specifically for smaller projects. That means
narrower tires and a tine width of just 18 inches, allowing the 918 to
work effectively in smaller areas. By mounting the wheel drive motor inside
the tiller body with a gear reduction to the axle, the sprocket housing
from underneath the tiller body is eliminated, resulting in greater clearance.
Durability & Simplicity
The frame is constructed with heavy 3/16” steel plate with double
welded seams, just like our larger tillers. By moving the wheel drive
valve and mounting it directly to the wheel drive motor, we have developed
the 918 tiller with fewer hoses. The control valve for the tine drive
operation has been moved to the tiller body, thus eliminating hoses on
the handlebar. We have added a bearing and seal to the tine shaft on the
drive side, so that the motor has no radial load associated with it, and
it is easily removed for service without removal of tine shaft assembly.
Shafts and bearings are protected by seals and shields, and there are
only two grease fittings on the entire machine.

Easy Operation
On the 918, the tines are redesigned so that they work either conventionally
or in counter rotating mode. Fingertip controls offer infinitely variable
ground speeds both forward and reverse, for incredibly easy operation.
By keeping wheels operating independently of tines, you can easily match
wheel speed to soil conditions.
